Wonder what this is?

This week’s task gave me the idea to write about a blog I found recently.
This Monday I read about a blog in the Metropol newspaper (I know ;-)…but it is good when you do not want to stare at other people’s faces on the metro). This blog is
http://postsecretcommunity.com/

Frank Warren, an American ex-businessman created the blog on 1 January 2005. The idea is genial, people usually mail their secrets anonymously on one side of a homemade postcard to Frank Warren who then selects secrets and posts them on the PostSecret website, or uses them for PostSecret's books or museum exhibits.
There were periods when the project seemed to die away but fortunately, he is now very successful. Last year according to ‘Youth Trends’, a company that interprets demographic data on young people’s spending habits and interests, the blog was one of the most popular sites among female students in the USA. Warren has also published four books on this issue in the last four years:
PostSecret: Extraordinary Confessions from Ordinary Lives
My Secret: A PostSecret Book
A Lifetime of Secret: A PostSecret Book
The Secret Lives of Men and Women: A PostSecret Book

He managed to make art out of people’s innermost secrets with his irresistible idea. It is exciting, isn’t it?

What is the story behind the Post Secret?
I better provide here the author’s own explanation because on one hand the story is rather weird and on the other hand he presents it so succintly.

“In December 2003, I took my first trip to Paris, France. That night I checked into a hotel in the Latin Quarter. While I slept, I had an extraordinary dream that would change my life and would eventually lead me to the PostSecret Project. My first day in Paris I purchased three Antoine de Saint-Expery’s Little Prince Postcard form a little shop near the hotel. When I got to my hotel room I prepared for bed, I placed the cards in the nightstand drawer and went to sleep. During the night, I had a lucid dream in which I was aware that I was in my own dream. I found myself in the hotel room. In my dream, I opened my nightstand drawer and examined the three Little Prince Postcards. Each had been altered with messages written on their back. The first message read “unrecognizable evidence, from forgotten journeys, unknowingly rediscovered” the second message was about a “reluctant oracle” postcard art project and the last message I could not understand at that time. When I awoke, I removed those three postcards from the drawer and tried to recreate them so they would appear like the ones I had seen during my dream. What I did not know was that those three remade Little Prince postcards would be the first work of trilogy of postcards that would consume my life and set me on an unimaginable journey…”

Well, all in all he is a talented guy who had a very original idea and can live from being a blogger. Great job!
